During the time of Northern Yuan dynasty, The great emperor of Mongolia Dayan Khan devided his people into 6 parts: Left(eastern) wing: Chahar, Halha, Uriangkhai. Right(western) wing: Yungsiyebu-Kharchin, Mongolcin-Tumet, Ordos. Halha Mongols comprised 2 branches, the northern group of 12 clans was the direct ancestors of the modern Mongolians, while the southern group of 5 clans belongs to Inner Mongolia. The Northern Halha clans: 1) Uusin and Jalair. The Hadagin(Hatagin) was one of the Nirun Mongols. 6) Tangud and Sartuul The Tangud was the descendants of Tangut empire(The western Xia dynasty recorded by the Chinese) in Mongolia. They was a branch of the ancient Tibetians. The Sartuul was the descendant of the Sarts. 7) Urianghai The original Uriangkhai was one of the forest dwellers in Siberia, Halha's Uriangkhai was probably the descendants of the Uriangkhai tumen, who was defeated by the Halha and other Mongols.
